Disability Defined      Guiding A Blind Person

Guiding A Blind Person

how you can help when guide to a blind

How can you help when guiding a blind person?

Well, this is not a simple question. Many sighted people do do not fully appreciate the problems visually handicapped or blind people face when moving about.

Things that the sighted take for granted may be significant problems to the blind. Just take a look at the following cartoons.

  1. Holding the elbow
  2. Walking with the blind
  3. Going through narrow doorways
  4. Backtracking
  5. Going down steps
  6. Reaching the end of the stairs
  7. Changing sides
  8. Opening a closed door
  9. Entering a closed door
  10. Entering a car
  11. Approaching a chair
