DPA wishes to thank its volunteers for their continued support to people with special needs. As a token of appreciation we would like to put our volunteer's name and other details on our web site.

DPA requests its volunteer's to send in the following details to help us appreciate your constant support and help to the people with disabilities. However, we respect your decision if you not to be included in this listing.

1.   Volunteer's for "Drive the Disabled" - Project
DISABLED PEOPLE'S ASSOCIATION (DPA), is a non-profitable organization, helping our members who come from crossdifferent disabilities background, to improve their living standards and contribute to the betterment of nation. Regardless of abilities and circumstances, every individual deserves the opportunity to maximise his potential and lead a life of dignity within society.

People with disabilities face many challenges on a day to day basis. One of their major problems is transport, due to various reasons like lack of accessibility to public transport. They are compelled to travel by car/taxi, raising their cost of living.

We are hoping to reach out for volunteers to drive people with disabilities. At DPA we conduct IT-training for our members. We need volunteers who are willing to ferry our members to DPA in order to attend various programmes aimed at , integrating people with disabilities into society.

The plan we have in mind, as an examples, is to match "someone having a car and driving to work to from location 'A' to location 'B' to ferry one of our members to DPA, or drive a member back home from DPA".

2.   Volunteers needed, especially on weekdays for different tasks
  1. Reading aloud to the visually-handicapped and / or,
  2. Administrative work and / or,
  3. Computer work (typing, data-entrykeying, HTML programming, website maintenance etc.)

Disabled People's Association needs volunteers to also undertake support work for our website www.dpa.org.sg, our resource library, our Independent Living Centre, and our administration and appeals.



As it would be necessary for you to work closely with the Association's staff in these areas you would need to be available during DPA's office hours: 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am - 1 pm Saturday

If you can be available for volunteer work at times during these hours please call 6899 1220 and we would be happy to arrange a time for you to visit and find out more about the volunteer opportunities.

If you are not available at any point during these hours, but would still like to be a volunteer for Disabled People's Association, perhaps we could put your contact details onto our volunteers list and call on you when we need volunteers for special events during out- of-office hours, e.g.. Open Days, Seminars, and a variety of fundraising events in the evenings or over weekends where we need volunteers to help run the program.
