Inclusion Fundamentals (Get-together)

The Inclusion Fundamentals workshops (Development of an inclusion service) were nicely concluded with a get-together for the participants held on Thursday 24 April 2014.  Inclusion Fundamentals is designed for corporate, voluntary welfare and government organisations that are looking to make their workplace, programmes and services more inclusive. 

We are delighted with the positive results.  Since its launch in May 2013, 6 sessions were held with 44 participants from 24 organisations participated in this workshop.  The comments from the participants are encouraging.  For the full evaluation report, please click here.  Below are examples of the participants’ comments:

Inclusion Fundamentals Fourth and Fifth Sessions

Inclusion Fundamentals is a one-day workshop designed to provide participants basic guiding principles in understanding the diverse needs of people with disabilities and how these needs can be met with flexibilities and adjustments.  We are delighted that two more sessions of Inclusion Fundamentals were successfully held on 22 October and 26 November 2013 respectively.

Deutsche Bank Charity Bazaar

DPA, together with other charities, NGOs and VWOs, was invited to Deutsche Bank’s charity bazaar at its One Raffles Quay office premises on 29 November, Friday. 

We set up a booth to distribute our publicity materials and also had handmade crafts from our members and SAVH on sale. Deutsche Bank staff also set up a soup and muffin stall to raise funds for DPA. For two hours from 12pm to 2pm, a steady stream of Deutsche Bank staff dropped by the bazaar to purchase our crafts and food items. In all, we raised about $2,000.  (more…)

YWLC Volunteer Forum

DPA took part in the inaugural Young Women’s Leadership Connection Volunteer (YWLC) Forum on 21 November 2013. It was held at the People’s Association from 6.30pm to 9pm. 

Other organisations which participated included SPLAT!, Conjunct Consulting, Early Reader and Wink.  

DPA’s advocacy executive, Alvan Yap, was among the panelists who shared experiences and information on skills-based volunteering during the breakout sessions and main forum itself.  

DPA wishes to thank YWLC for the opportunity to network with like-minded organisations and professionals, as well as publicise our cause and reach out to potential volunteers.  (more…)

Talking About Disabilities, Celebrating Abilities!

The Disabled People’s Association’s “Let’s Talk About Disability” IDPD celebration was held over two days at the Jurong Point atrium on 15 and 16 November 2013. 

On the opening Friday, 15 November, we kicked off the celebrations with the opening of the booth exhibitions by various VWOs. Staff and volunteers were on hand to give information to members of the public who wish to find out more about the services and facilities provided.
