Advocacy and IT Initiatives 2006

DPA has been championing people with disabilities (PWDs) in the press in the past half year. From September to March, we had a total of ten letters published in the press, that advocated various pertinent issues such as the barrier-free access on the Web, the accessibility of transport, rights of athletes with disabilities, the issue of Tiger Airways and accessible airline facilities and the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Levy issue. Disabled friendly facilities at the Zoo and Mount Faber 2006

After consultation and a site walk-through with DPA, Singapore Zoological Gardens has now revamped its premises and informative handouts such as their website and their maps to be more accessible and available to people with disabilities. It has also equipped its website with information on its disabled-friendly facilities and re-printed its maps with more information for people with disabilities. (more…)

International Day of Disabled Persons 2006

The objective was to enlighten the public on disability issues and to create awareness of the services provided by NPOs and our partners and showcase their involvement in E-Accessibility through an exhibition, performances and talks.  (more…)

Fundraising Flag Day 2006

DPA’s 4th Flag Day was held on the 1st July 2006. More than 2500 volunteers helped out in more than 20 collection centers island wide. The collection this time was not as positive as in previous years. However, DPA would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to this event. 

DPA Motivational Files

In the hope of raising funds for the Association and also increasing awareness among the public regarding people with disabilities, DPA came out with ”motivational files”. With about 200 proverbs written across its cover, this ”Motivational Folder Project” aimed to inspire the students as well as open everyone”s mind to think more positively about people with disabilities in society.

Each folder is sold for only $2.00 for students and $2.50 for the general public. These folders were designed by Mr. Gilbert Tan Yue Liang. As of 31st March 2008, 2,459 folders were sold with a total amount of S$4,720.
