Joint Proposal on Accessibility to Electoral Process

DPA collaborated with the Singapore Association for the Deaf to gather feedback on how accessible the electoral process is for persons with disabilities. The scope of enquiry covers all political media broadcasts, election rallies, voting and election results. Our findings and suggestions will be presented to the Elections Board and other relevant parties in the Government for their action.

 

Glossary of Disability Terminology

DPA has updated and replaced the Dictionary of Disability Terminology with the a new Glossary of Disability Terminology. DPA believes that a glossary would be more user-friendly and accessible. The main difference between the older dictionary and this glossary is that the glossary focuses on the meaning and use of a disability-related term, rather than on how it is pronounced. In addition, DPA has taken out negative disability terminology from this glossary preferring to focus on more appropriate and positive terminology.

It discusses the needs and concerns of persons with disabilities in the workplace factors responsible for their low employment rate, and offers practical solutions to eliminate those barriers. 

 

How to Plan and Deliver Advocacy Messages

Advocacy Toolkit offers easy-to-use tips on planning and delivering advocacy messages such as writing a complaint or feedback letter and a letter to the media. It was designed to make disability advocacy more accessible to persons with disabilities and those interested in disability issues so that they can be part of our efforts toward making Singapore more inclusive.

Singapore and the UN CRPD tracks the progress of the CRPD and the Enabling Masterplan 2012-2016. In this booklet, DPA listed each article in plain English and provided a short overview of what policies are in place to realise each article as well as DPA’s opinion or recommendations on them.

Access to Banking Services Seminar: Evaluation Report

DPA held an Access to Banking Services Seminar on 25 April 2013, which was attended by voluntary welfare organisations (VWO) partners, representatives from Banking Services, government officials and individuals with disabilities. At the seminar, DPA shared some of the key findings with the delegates. Delegates were then asked to discuss a set of questions in relation to accessibility and service delivery.

The findings of this survey were published on Thursday 25 April 2013. The full survey report was launched at a seminar held at DPA’s office on the same day.
