DPA & VSA Joint Flag Day 2017
Together, we grow
The upcoming Flag Day on Saturday 25 March 2017 is a fund raising event jointly organised by the Disabled People Association, (DPA) and Very Special Arts, (VSA). Through the event, we hope to achieve the following objectives:
• Raise awareness about the work of DPA & VSA and our outreach to support people with disabilities
• Promote disability awareness
• Inspire the spirit of empathy amongst the public and volunteers on the needs of people with disabilities
• Raise funds to cover the daily operations and programmes of the two organisations
We would therefore like you to join us in our cause and sign up as a volunteer.
Please help us to spread the word about volunteering to your friends and family! All student volunteers will be awarded with CCA points/CIP hours as well as receive a certificate of appreciation for their contributions towards this fundraising event. IB candidates will also receive Social Service hours.
By volunteering with us this flag day you will get a chance to use Project Tintin, which is an innovative software DPA developed to make flag day run smoother and save your valuable time by making registration and tin assignment on the day much quicker. It also makes returning the tin faster and easier. Sign up today to see for yourself how Project Tintin can make the flag day experience that much better. To watch a video about Project Tintin and see it in action, please click here.

If you are unable to volunteer on the Flag Day, you can still support our initiatives by adopting one or more donation tins. Please send a cheque payable to ‘DPA’ and send to 1 Jurong West Central 2, #04-01 Singapore 648886. Do indicate “Adopt a Tin” on the reverse side of the cheque. Alternatively, you can Adopt a Tin online by clicking here.
All proceeds raised form the street collection and “Adopt a Tin” will be shared equally between DPA and VSA.
Supporters may also choose to head over to Westgate Mall, Level 1 from 2 pm to 6 pm for a quick respite after a day’s fundraising to join in on the celebration where there will be art demonstrations and musical performances by artists with disabilities. Members of the public can stop by to see performances, which showcase the talents of those who have benefitted from VSA’s empowering and creative programmes. Keeping in line with the message of inclusion there will be musicians with and without disabilities on the stage. The carnival will be performed mainly by children and youth with intellectual disabilities. There will also be guest performances by Lauren Yeo, Stephanie Ow and the Victoria Chinese Orchestra (VACO). The carnival aims to share further about how people with disabilities are differently abled.
